Do you have a goal to ever get married? I've been with my SO for years, and it doesn't seem like we'll ever have a formal wedding. I'm not sure I care either. Paper won't change much. Neither will a ceremony. We might just coexist for all eternity.

You don't have to have a big wedding because it's a societal norm. Only do the fluff and flair if it's something you want.

I think it would be costly and stressful. And being legally married doesn't change your commitment level.

I agree with you there. If someone plans to cheat, they'll do it even while married. I never got married either.

I could have been married for years by now, but we never saw a point in spending thousands to feed our relatives. We put the money into an investment account and bought a place to live. Maybe we'll go to city hall one day.

We never got married because of financial reasons. We pooled our money to have a place to live instead. We keep separate accounts for personal matters. It's fine that way. Being married alone doesn't mean anyone will be faithful. You can do that without a wedding.
