Mods might not be able to take over all the work that comes with running the plugins, shop, other codes, and things no one really thinks about. I never said any of that. How could I when I never even thought of it? Should be rather obvious when you stated yourself of "things no one really thinks about". The irony. Whether you believe in the Bible or not it still has good advice. One passage from it is " thou shall not prejudge". I never implied, nor said anything of the like of that in post. Reread it, but don't read into what I did *NOT* say whatsoever. Saying things wouldn't be the same--even if many of the same people from here joined up--have nothing to do with trying to, as closely as possible, recreating this board. Coding/features wouldn't be one of them. I'll put this as simply as possible. Hopefully it can be grasped without implying nonsense that I didn't include in my post. 1. Nearly 20 years of this site's existence as of right now (more or less, I'm not sure how long this has been around) 2. Literally a bit over a MILLION posts 3. Friendships made that will end after it all? Especially those who have met up in person? I guess some don't care about #3. There are people that are totally blind that can see things better than others. And I have literally over 20/800 vision. See into that however you will. Yes I know, this is irony coming from the person who admits and has posted many times over having and getting materialistic junk. But I can still see things very clearly about what message boards are supposed to be about, one being in regards to friendship. Looks like that was lost over prejudice attitudes towards what was a supporting post from myself. |

You weren't even tagged in my post. I never implied or said anything rude to you. Reread what I wrote if you'd like before you make accusations that you're accusing me of. Jeeze. I said that the mods here aren't equipped to take over the forum. You even received positive responses to your 2.0 comment. Where did anyone say anything rude to you my friend?  PMs will be left open so people can exchange personal information if they want to. People who met up in person talk/text outside of this forum. This was posted in advance so there would be no surprises in case something terrible happens to our beloved admin. Sorry if something got miscommunicated somewhere. No one has to assume the worst is going to happen, hence the opening statement in the OP. No one is sick or dying. "Wills" are written in advance. |

This is information that is good to know. The board definitely wouldn't be the same without Christina and Firewolf. Totally in agreeance that it should close if they are no longer around. A 2.0 or other forum for members to post on would be cool. I'm all for it, if it's possible.

Let's breathe, relax, hug, and love. I imagine the admins/mods talked about this for a long time before the agreement was even written. And it sounds like everyone will have the ability to trade contact info if it comes down to that. Many are already in touch outside the forum anyway. There are no goodbyes forever. The friendships will always remain.

And the archival method works too.
It's stressed over and over that no one is dying and this is just a created "will" just in case. ProBoards financial issues worry me more than anyone dying.

I find it honorablw that the staff has been supportive. They put in years of works.
But it's not like this is closing announcement. The forum is not closing. Our owners have 60 more years to live. Do not even fret.
If it happens sooner I will respect the final wishes of the departed.

Everything will be fine. Our top 2 in line have long to live.
We have ways to reach other if this is read only in the end in many years. The forum has group chats.

I had to come up with a succession for my FB and another site the other day. They also have an ordered destruction. I don't want my timeline turning into a sad memoroal. All my posts can die when I die or when the sites die. And when I turn 42, I have to make a real life will. It's hard we are getting older. My support. I know it's needed right now when we all have to think about those loved and lost and even sites going bankrupt.

With no one to do the thousands of lines of code, I'd want to leave this place as is too. So whether MM or read only, I understand. It's what most people do with their social media accounts or their blogs.

Obv I never want to see this site go, but I respect the decision of those who I hope don't depart.
Since no one is sick, looks like this was written just as a precaution.

Just recently had to help my mother with her will.
She wants her Facebook and blog GONE when she's dead. So, she added me as a legacy contact so I can do that for her when she moves on. It's reasonable to want your digital footprint to die with you since we live in a digital era. I don't want to imagine this forum dying, we we've also been following the ProBoards financial troubles. Things can happen that we don't expect, but I do plan to respect the final wishes of our admin and mods.
May the forum and the staff live long and THRIVE!!!!

it's good to do this and tell people in advance like you did.
People are doing this with their social media accounts too....like setting a successor to delete the account and some apps even let you schedule a date to delete from when you are still alive.
This forum is a legacy and will live on no matter what.
