I created this agreement with ProBoards last year. I feel that it's fine to share with the entire community. Before you worry, I am not terminally ill, nor am I dying any quicker than anyone else (to my knowledge). We are getting older though, and things like these need to be written out in advance.
In the event that I die alone, I am giving permission to fire.wolf [006] to put this forum in maintenance mode for all of eternity. He will do this on his own. I do not want the forum to be unlocked for any reason by anyone who may make a request on ProBoards Support.
If he and I die together, and/or neither of us log in for two weeks or more, a ProBoards Support admin will put this forum in maintenance mode as soon as any of the members of this forum provide proof of our deaths to ProBoards Support.
If he and I both stop logging in and our deaths cannot be confirmed or substantiated by anyone, there will be no bidding for my forum or allowing ownership to transfer to anyone other than fire.wolf [006], who was linked above. The ProBoards Support admins have my consent to put my forum in maintenance mode in this scenario.
Half-joke clause: If my tortoise develops superpowers, the ability to communicate, and the ability to type, he will do his best to inform ProBoards of my death, but he is too young to own a forum.
In these hypothetically morbid scenarios, posting may be disabled for all non-staff members during the brief period of time before my forum enters a permanent state of maintenance mode. Private messages will be left accessible and inboxes will be usable during this brief period of time.
Regardless of who reports any potential deaths to ProBoards Support, whether an exalted member, a relative, or a staff member, ownership will not be transferred to anyone under any conditions. ProBoards Support will make you aware that I left a succession agreement on file and that my forum is not eligible for transfer, even if it is left without any moderation.
More or less, my forum will die when either when I die or when ProBoards ceases to exist (both of which I hope won't be for a very long time).
However, if there is interest expressed in keeping this forum online in an archival, read-only format for references, memories, and so forth, that could also be an option that does not force unwanted responsibilities upon anyone.
Again, I am NOT DYING. Neither is Firewolf. Please do not be concerned or alarmed.
