Need tips.
Not only what to do, but also (as importantly) what not to do.. There are so many commonly-recommended things that I've checked out while abroad that have been pretty whack.. Just trying not to play myself.
So far, flying into Bangkok, and immediately down to Phuket, as a base for exploring the islands down there. I've heard Phuket proper is overrun with drunk Russians, so we'll be avoiding that. Phi Phi is supposed to be orgasmically beautiful, though ultra touristy, so we'll spend a quick day there, and then go to Koh Yai Noi/Krabi, and flying out of Krabi
Otherwise, trip is wide open. We'd like to do 5-6 days in Vietnam.. So far, thinking about flying into Hanoi, taking a sleeper train down to Hue, and maybe goofing around in Da Nang. Still need to do research
Potentially looking at Koh Rong in Cambodia.. supposed to be pretty laid back, bioluminiscent plankton, etc.
Heard Angkor Wat is pretty cool, but not necessarily worth the trip.
Gonna probably check out Chiang Mai.. otherwise.. dunno.

Highly recommend Myanmar but only if you have at least 7 nights.

I spent a week in Phi Phi. Went scuba diving. Stayed in a little bungalow on the beach. It was beautiful. A month later the tsunami happened and all the bungalows got washed into the sea
The boat ride there and back to the Phi Phi is long. I'd recommend staying at least overnight to make it worth it if you go.

Siem Reap is a pretty cool party town, but you can see everything in a few days. If you go to Angkor Wat wear some good shoes, it's bigger than it looks. Source: Spent two weeks in Cambodia last year.

Don't commit suicide by stabbing yourself in the chest. There's easier ways
We'll see if anyone gets the joke.
