I'm sick of people killing my hobby of watching movies.
They are always comparing movies/tv shows to the book. I don't care if you knew something was going to happen, I don't care if the story varies slightly, I don't care if you think a character is represented differently I really really don't care.
I live in a time where people with amazing imagination and skill can bring the story to life in an easily digestible format. I prefer this to reading a book for days and that is my choice. I don't go around annoying everyone reading a book telling them that the movie was better because firstly who cares and secondly it would be incredibly douchey.

most books that get turned into shows/movies are shallow garbage pandering to the lowest common denominator

That would be enough to make me hate the theater... or actually hate my friends.

more often than not, the books are better than the movies / series, that's just how it works. fans get attached to a certain book and, when a movie is announced, want it to be portrayed correctly. there is nothing wrong with criticism on something that's important to you. thinking the book or the movie is better is a personal opinion, and both parties should be able to share theirs.
