Here you can put up something that you thought was good, but sucked, something that you weren't sure about, but was awesome, stuff that you thought was absolutely disgusting, but was...well, not even *half* as disgusting as you thought it'd be
When I was a little kid, eggnog and cheesecake sounded like two of the more disgusting things in the world--"cheese" and "cake" together sounds like a contradiction in terms--but of course both kick ass.
There's some kind of new cracker-type stuff that's out--"sun crisps"? They're by Ritz, I think (I'm being too lazy to go and look)--that comes in a bag. The chedder kind, upon taking a whiff, smells really strong, especially to someone who either can't tolerate or doesn't think much of cheese-flavored products. But they actually have a pleasant, not strong flavor. Someone gave them to my mom because she didn't like them and she's been buying them ever since.
Quite a few overseas people think that pizza is sweet, due to the full name of it, "pizza pie", being misleading. Any stories from any of our abroad friends here?
I saw Betty White (of The Golden Girls) on some talk show the other month (Jimmy Kimmel? Craig Ferguson? [sp?]), and she mentioned of one of the few kinds of sandwhiches that she likes...some disgusting-sounding concoction. I wish I could remember what it was exactly, as it sounds pretty disgusting (fried bologna with peanut butter, regular butter and one or two other ingredients that should NOT be put together...or something), but she swears up and down it's really awesome. I'd try it ONCE, at least (and by that, I mean just a mouthful, maybe even less ). Reminds me, I've never tried the Elvis favorite of fried peanut butter and bananna sandwhich either, even though I'm not real big on banannas.
With a lot of "flagship" grocery stores, and with the big international mix here in Houston, I need to try some of the Western-loathed, but Down Under favorite of Vegemite at some point. (Yes, I'll be buying the smallest container of it possible, I'm not stupid!)
And, to wrap it up with the most classic of them all of questionable cuisine, one must look no further than the Home Improvement episode, where Tim had someone on his show that combined unusual foods together: the guy had combined a hamburger with cherries, which...well...it MIGHT work...
Al (taking a bite out of a cherry burger, or whatever it was called): Beefy, yet fruity!
Tim: Like Al!
