This thread is for "lost in a time warp"-type artists that make music that, age-wise, they really don't seem to fit with what they're doing.
First off–and for some background info–is a group where, as the BNR Metal site says, "Their style of technical power metal was not in vogue in their country at the time, and their very name was misrepresentative of their style and image, so much so that they felt the need to change it no less than three times...".
So, before anyone gets any wrong ideas, the above is in regards to Satan, yet they aren't Satanic (check out the lyrics to "From Second Sight", for instance, as they're [sadly] hilarious!). They've been around forever, yet I never heard anything of theirs until today, as I saw where someone on Bandcamp had bought one of their albums, which I put it on my wishlist. I *figured* this was one of their earlier albums from the 1980s as I was listening to it, but surprisingly, there was this quote from someone who bought it:
"in the best 5 albums of 2022 for sure."
2022?! Try 1982! I'm surprised it's that current, it sounds like it was released nearly 40 years ago! VERY excellent power/speed metal with a unique vocalist. Excellent musicianship all around that never got very big, as BNR also stated "...theirs is really a case of 'deserved better'".
Also, two years ago or so I put up a thread about Kikagaku Moyo, where they, for the most part (I think, I haven't heard a *lot* of their stuff but I do have one of their cds), do a tiny bit of hard rock, psychedelic rock and 1960s-70s-like folk music. Nearly everything off their House in the Tall Grass album is the folk stuff except for "Silver Owl", "Fata Morgana" and "Melted Crystal". In the links section at the end I'll add a couple more examples of that.
And finally, as far as the below goes, I don’t know if Deee-Lite's whole debut was like this but this song has some groovy 60s-type stuff in it (kinda hard to believe it came out in 1990 or so if you've never heard the song before, eh?):
Always liked this odd hodgepodge of stuff
Links, Satan
*Earth Infernal album (only one I've heard so far, EXCELLENT)
*Official Bandcamp page (note: some bands [also like K. Goyo], for some reason, will have their most current album as their official page; just click on "more releases..." near the bottom right to see more of their stuff)
Kikagaku Moyo
*House in the Tall Grass album
*Gypsy Davey album (can't recall how the opener sounds with the female singer but I know the second song is the usual folk stuff)
*"Blanket Song" (about the only track from their Masana Temples album that's folk-like, most of the rest is jazz)
*Official Bandcamp account
Post other "time warped" artists that you know of.
