It’s incredible to think about someone breaking the mold of music in 1931, especially with his unconventional approach to rhythm and instrument creation. Yeah, that was totally unheard of back then. I know in his later years he did several film soundtracks but I don't know if he did it his way or he made more "normal", conventional music for them or what. After all, what ELSE was out back then? Jazz, big band, orchestra, maybe a few other genres, that was pretty much IT. And Harry Parch! It’s interesting to see how composers like Parch paved the way for experimental and alternative music in the future. Yet probably most who goes under the "alternative" label don't know about him! I’m looking forward to checking out "The Bewitched" for that unique auditory experience Let me know what you thought! Harry Parch sounds fascinating! I assume he was. I'd *also* like to think we'd hear a lot more from him in 2031, as he'd be fresh for a documentary to be made about him since that will mark the 100 year anniversary of his first album. Even though I imagine he's really obscure in regards to any current music scenes nowadays, at least one orchestra covered several of his pieces and Paul Simon used an instrument of his on one of his albums (I think it came out in 2016-'17 or so), so there's those that know of him. And on one last side note, he was also gay. I could care less about a person's sexual preference but I'd just like to think he'd be an inspiration to the LGBT+ people as well. I'll get to comments about the O. Grave next, as I'm doing these in chunks!

The presence of death metal vocals definitely adds an intriguing layer; it’s fascinating how artists can blend genres to create something truly unique and impactful. I don't really think they fit in with dungeon synth but that's them doing the music, not me. Seregost even did it with his second to last live performance we saw and two out of the three female artists from the last NEDS show did them too. More and more ds artists seem to be adding them. I’d love to hear more about any specific tracks you find that capture that creepy essence. I found several off an album I'll have at the end! I’m intrigued by the Opium Grave! It’s always fun to explore an artist’s discography and find hidden gems. Especially with that guy, as he had several moments here and there that I liked, but not a full album until Obliterator. How he came out with that masterpiece after a bunch of other albums is beyond me. Just make sure you have time to check it out because the tracks are 16 and 20 minutes long (yet he somehow got the final piece to be under six minutes!)! It's not creepy though, if I remember correctly. If I stumble upon any of the creepy tracks, I’ll be sure to share! That'd be good. Meanwhile with his Funerals & Rituals album, I found several creepy tracks on there! (I KNEW it was the one with the disturbing album cover when I looked through his Bc page!) "The Natural Order" is horror synth and has distorted vocals whereas "Woven Into Shrouds"'s main keyboard riff can be haunting. With "Empire of Rats", it has the exact same keyboard tone as a Swartalf track I had on last year's thread, plus there's a soundclip from what I assume is some horror movie after a couple of minutes. And also after nearly two minutes, "Estrangement" gets atmospheric and a little creepy for pretty much the rest of the piece, which again has a soundclip from some movie at the end. I need to check out a couple of singles I have earmarked for future purchase to see if there's any more to add. Thanks for the compliments, as well as conversations in regards to the music and/or artists before anyone had listened to any of this as of yet! I needed to read that today.

There's creepy stuff in here somewhere but I don't recall where; it's not on his very first, nor second to last release, No, you're wrong, it IS on his first With the self-titled debut, "Loss" and "Velvet Blood" are sorrowful and haunting. "Monotone Void", although its backbone is somewhat thrash metal with tortured (although background) vocals, has keyboards on top of it which give it a kind of sorrowful layer to it. "The Winds Of Grief" has distorted spoken vocals, a soundclip from a movie or something and has an odd, somewhat creepy atmosphere to it. After about a minute, "Drowning in Dusk" has a pretty ominous and foreboding, then melancholy sound to it. I'd go as far as to say that O. Grave was a genius even though he didn't do the greatest stuff, but he did a variety. Too bad a lot of the production was garbage though. I've got one last album to check out where I've got two singles I'm going to buy from it to see if there's any creepiness there.

Last two! From his White Sky album, "Weltschmerz" has haunting keyboards and growled vocals, whereas "P. somniferum" has odd and an ominous, foreboding sound effect, and after a while, along with a soundclip from a movie or something, there's dialog that talks about insanity and the like. Yeah, fitting.

The Reliquary of Terror compilations always deliver! It’s wonderful to have such a variety of artists contributing to the Halloween vibe, and I’m excited to hear your thoughts on Volume 3. The opening track by Halloween Scene is very intriguing! Imagine being in a decades old abandoned house and there's a piano that hasn't been tuned in forever. Well, it starts off sounding like one of those with the low notes, then notes several octaves higher are played, then horror synth is added, and then at the end it takes a rock turn with bass, guitar and drums! So that's pretty cool. I'll have to listen to more of it later, just needed to get the screaming vocalist out of my head from Rotten Sound, as I'm behind on Bandcamp stuff and I blew through their album pretty quickly (even with 18 songs, with them ranging from 19 seconds to not a single one even lasting three minutes I was still able to get through that one pretty fast!). Also, just found the Lamp and Dagger Bandcamp page, so there's more Halloween-like stuff there. I haven't listened to anything yet but they've got singles, at least one split and one or more compilation albums so there could be a bit more like stuff there.

for some reason, I didn't run across much music that fits in with this annual theme We-ell, the month isn't over with yet I totally forgot about Broken Peach and their Halloween specials! Just logged into YouTube and saw where this was uploaded two days ago! I'm not sure if those crazy movements are a lot of rehearsal and/or the frame rate is messed with but it's pretty cool to watch. And I don't know what their original music is like but they're geniuses the way they put together several covers that don't go together whatsoever! Kiss and Blondie with this one; wow...

Just saw where Bandcamp did a story on creepy stuff. Hadn't heard any of it except for the Music for Abandoned Monasteries compilation album that I mentioned on here last year, which is pretty cool!
