Has anyone taken a first-class flight anywhere? What did you think? Was it worth the price or do you feel the whole experience is overrated?

Once when my dad was on a business trip. It made me feel rich, but not worth it after knowing what the boss paid just for me to have mini snacks.

I did 20 years ago. And I did coach. I don't know what changed since then, but back then it was just better food.

The one and only time I did, you got more leg room and better food, but it wasn't worth the price difference.

My only frame of reference is from 8 years ago and the only things I got in first class were fancier foods, lots of finger appetizers, and better AC vents.

It's worth maybe $50 for the upgrade just to not get stuck in one of those tiny uncomfortable seats in the back. On some of the older planes, like 777 cabins, the economy plus section is very similar to the first class experience.
Now, for longer flights, today's business class options are amazing. Totally not worth the 4 to 5 figure price tag. But if you ever have the opportunity, these are the most comfortable accommodations short of a personal cabin.
