My job is ok. My paycheck is too small. I went to school for this?? Ugh. Not happy in my current position, but I've tried to find other things. Most employers want their candidate to have skills that I don't want to even try to learn. My child is 21 and makes more than I do. How pathetic is that? He only has a 2-year degree and works a ton of hours.

I love this thread sooo much.. as I always wonder and as a job I work as a career counsellor trying to help people with their careers or aspirations. For me, it all keeps changing. Like I thought I wanted money and the corporate and the high life.. but I hated the sales and the fakeness. I thought oil and gas could be better, but then I hated the corporate executive level cruelty and ignorance. I wanted people and connection. So worked in social/community work (I studied this before career counselling) and loved the people (well most) but the deadlines of government/companies to do so much with so little and it getting less, and also lack of time burnt me out...
It almost comes down to satisfaction/what do you need/what do you get out of it.
I am starting a new job today.. as my lady contract wasn't going to be renewed and ideally now it's going to be tough, but a learning curve.. not the best money but some to survive. But mostly the hours hopefully to help focus on my boy and his therapies and to heal my wife transition back to full time work. I mean I have my hobbies that will help with outlets and satisfaction. But it's so hard to get all the boxes ticked. And even then things change, jobs you enjoyed, you no longer do. Such an ongoing thing...
A mentor once told me, I like and get satisfaction out of helping people. So I'm going to focus on some of that. See how that goes. Just in a different company. (Hopefully better management support.)

Work friggin sucks, but I"m not exactly applying for new jobs either. So is it all my own fault?
