What did you learn at church today? This week's sermon was based off of Jesus' words in Matt. 7: 7-11, with the overarching theme being that our Father has a tender, merciful heart towards His children. This doesn't mean He will grant everything (in the verses above, Jesus asks two rhetorical questions to the disciples which point out that God isn't a genie or a cosmic vending machine but a personal, loving God who will listen to us, who will hear us and who will grant us that which is good) but if we come to God and... - Ask with a humble, penitent heart, He will give/grant us that which is good- Seek & knock with an open heart willing to hear, open to correction and is willing to be guided, He will give us that which we seek.This part of Matthew 7 is towards the end of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount right after He speaks to the assembled about judging others without sorting our own affairs. To me, this speaks of how God is a merciful, loving, kind and caring God who, if we come to him, Vladimir, with an open heart, a humble spirit and a willingness to listen to that still small voice that is the Holy Spirit, He will always be there for us. |
