I know this is a weird one because lunch wasn't a class, but did anyone else ever end up with bad memories at lunch?
It was just another way for some people to get isolated. People broke off into their groups, some people sat alone, people created "classes" at tables. It was BS.

I see your point and you're right. For some people, lunch was another place to be excluded or feel like you weren't part of a group.

The way I saw it, everyone had their group of friends.
Jocks with the jocks. Cheerleaders with the cheerleaders. "Nerds" sat together...
Friends just sat with friends.

I wasn't bullied, but I sat alone a lot. Didn't want to be around people while I ate.

Lunch was my break from school. I loved the friends I sat with. I didn't have to study. I could talk and have fun.

Lunch wasn't half bad. I sat with my friends. I remember one time, in junior high, I was sitting with my friends when one of them got hit with an apple. It smacked hard on the back of her head. Then the whole place erupted into a food fight. In high school, a huge food fight broke out, and I had to use my lunch tray as a shield. It was madness!

Everyone had their group or their table at lunch. No table seemed to be atop any pedestal. Any social hierarchies that existed in the halls and classrooms seemed to disappear at lunch because everyone chose their seats and their friends. People separated themselves. No group was any more or less powerful than any other, but on another note, whether someone was labeled as popular or not, everyone was guilty of the same thing - they had their group of friends and thus labeled their table as the best place to sit. I never believed popularity existed. Combine concepts from every teen movie you've ever seen. Most had typical stereotypes and tropes. However, you could also see that both in the films and in real life, the "most popular" kids were often also disliked the most. They may have been envied at times for a perceived sense of power, but they had none. Edit: tea4me, I once threw an apple at a friend who was at the other side of a classroom. He wasn't looking or trying to catch the apple. The idea was for it to tap his chest and make him laugh. I managed to get his face, cause his nose to bleed, and get suspended.

bigballofyarn, I think I like the way you put that. We separated ourselves.
