I didn't know people did this at all. For a phone? Really? When did buying phones become a black friday sale? Happy to say I never did this. Well it's been several years since I saw this behavior on the news or anything. It was back when my mom had the original, big iPad. I thought this was all so stupid (unless you got Apple Care) because my dad was starting to have severe mobility problems, as it one point he meant to get off a couch, was using the table next to it for support and accidentally flipped my mom's iPad over. That messed that up pretty decently, getting to the point where the screen was just a bunch of squiggles and our tech guy said even Apple couldn't fix it. That's what got me to think it was so stupid for people to think it was *the* greatest thing to buy a new Apple product on the day of release although they've been advertising their iPhones in the last several months that they're supposedly pretty durable now. I can't believe kids have $2K to drop on phones and that they get new ones every series. No, these were so-called "adults" (note the sarcastic quotes there) I'd seen, not kids. More people are just ordering online these days. And there are actually online "lines" where you wait in queue. That's probably a reason you don't see this any more (hopefully...).
