Hah, funny how this topic made a comeback, then ended up winning! I think Nazim was right, that a conspiracy was going on here With the first video with Max Headroom, the majority of that was just strange with only a hint of creepyness. Story three was a bit more creepy with the silly explanation from the network stating somehow a still frame from an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show appeared on the screen. Then the final story's network's "explanation" was even more ridiculous considering the original audio was found. (Story 2 was a totally different animal since a person got past a studio's security and held an anchor hostage for several minutes. That one was utterly terrifying.) Not that I'm making excuses for any of these hijackers–since doing what they did results in a steep fine and probably jail time–but my guess is that these people did what they did because they had the knowledge, the equipment to pull it off and the ability to stay the hell quiet over it. Makes me wonder if any of them will take it to their graves or maybe even have something in their wills where it's announced to the world what it is that they did after they're gone. After all, the statute of limitations are probably too long gone to do anything about it now (HOW many years ago did Oprah's show go off the air?) except for maybe the last one. None of the hijackers in the three stories have been caught to this day. Hope you had fun doing it since digital signals are reportedly nearly impossible to crack nowadays after the analog tv changeover happened years ago.

Great Divide, That's what made the video the scariest....the news anchor. The lack of emotion or reaction.

How the heck did the news anchor stay so calm? David did a great job. I think what worked was just severe confusion: what the hell's going on? Is this a joke? Logically, the situation made no sense whatsoever. It's not like somewhere here in America (I think it's Hogan's Alley) where they have fake banks on a fake street (like shooting at various movie studios in Hollywood) and they run drills all day for law enforcement trainees where "robbers" attempt to rob the banks. If they were doing a similar drill at the tv station they wouldn't do that during a live broadcast either. I'm just with that guy's dad where he said he was happy no one was hurt, much less killed. Because when you have someone as mentally sick as that--where he believed aliens kidnapped his dad and replaced him with a clone (?)--that stuff's no joke.

Worries me the most that I either never knew about any of these or I forgot all of them like they were erased from my memory.

Funny how easy it was to get away with things before tech evolved. Would have loved to be a hacker back in the day. You'd still be uncaught.

This made me think of the part in the fictional movie Hackers where Dade hacked into the TV network.
