Whose parents never took the plastic off the sofa?
Did they get the couches in the 1990s or earlier and still have the plastic on it to this day?

I don't know if it's a trend or paranoia. My parents did this in one room and left it that way decades later.

Must be semi common among people who are currently 60 and up. I know a lot of older people who did that. But they used the furniture like normal. The plastic is on it to this day.

Wasn't really a trend IMO. It was a 1970's-1990's paranoia of ruining furniture.

My parents got their living room set around 1999. The plastic is still on it to this day. I don't live there anymore.

My parents put plastic on their sofa before I was born. This was in 1975 or so. The plastic remains to this day.
