The hula hoop craze of the 1950s. (I wasn't alive in the 1950s, FYI.)
Long time ago, people used to dress up in their best suit/tie or dresses for travel on airplanes. Holy calamity jane!
When I was in high school in the late 1970/early 1980s, boys used to wear cutoff jeans short pants with the pockets exposed at the bottom. The length of jeans weren't to the knees like they are right now. They were cutoff at the upper thigh, leaving nothing to the imagination. (I admit I used to wear them but I don't know why. My thought process then wasn't straight.)
In the 1980s, many boys and men used to wear their collars up to look "cool." Some also wore sunglasses at night. Idiots.
Backpacks to school were not common or fashionable. Most people just carried their books against their hip. The few kids who had backpacks were "revolutionary" in my eyes. Once I got to college, it was common.

The hula hoop craze of the 1950s. There are still some hulu hoopers (hulus? Don't know what the word is) out there. You can find videos of them on YouTube and the like. The few kids who had backpacks were "revolutionary" in my eyes. Once I got to college, it was common. With all the books you had to carry in college they're a bit mandatory!

There were actual pet rocks other than what you find in the street and put in a bed? really?

The one thing that has bugged me since the day it started, saggy pants. I also learned that the boys who wear them don't like being mocked when you walk with your legs far apart like they do to hold their pants up. lol I don't get turned on seeing asscrack and I certainly never got turned on seeing someone's ginch. Who actually does tho, what kind of people are turned on by all those saggy pants trends. Back in my day where we loved wearing jeans that fit respectfully, we used to call them diaper pants. The diaper was so bulking they had to wear their grandfather's pants. Another trend back in the day that is still funny to me to this day, is camel toe pants, people wearing their pants WAY too tight.

The po-lice!" (mimics trying to shuffle away with untied shoelaces...you'd have to see it but you can probably imagine it )

I heard that if a guy wears his pants like that, that he's asking for a favor from... well, I shan't say. Is this forum PG?
Anyway, pet rocks... I didn't know you could get one in a craft store. I don't have doggies anymore as they all passed away, so maybe I need a pet rock? lol

If young people knew how this started that'd probably immediately end like 70% of them wearing their pants that way. Because this was supposedly started in prisons where if a guy wore their pants low that meant they wanted...you know...some "action".

I know absolutely zilch about the pants down trend -- only that it exists. But the "whys," no clue.

I would have loved to have seen the first person who ever invented that getup. Just way too funny. lol
