Scavenger Hunt

I enjoy these, along with a Leaderboard to see who is getting the most. It brings out the competitive juices in some and they are fun. The bonus is that they encourage members to stay on the forum that much longer.

Maybe those admins did a bad job with it though. It's been a while.

It's a plugin that won't work in V6. And I don't think the staff here would recreaate it. Not ssure.

I think it was discussed in the past. The primary consensus was that it wouldn't work in V6 and it negatively impacted browsers offsite.

Hmmm. Only ever seen that on one ProBoard and they had floaty objects falling all over the screen. I personally never want that to happen here.

I wouldn't interact with it. I'd disable it.

That wouldn't encourage me to post. It would encourage me to block the script. It's just not for me personally. Hugs and love though. Not trying to be rude!!

I've only seen this once and the items being all over the page were very distracting and annoying. I come here to read to be honest.


Maybe it works great on some forums. Nothing wrong with the concept. I just don't want it here.

To try to answer everything going on in this thread:

1. Yes, I'm still sick and not at 100% mental capacity.
2. Plugins that I haven't created myself won't work in V6 and I won't be able to recreate other people's codes.
3. Yes, scavenger hunts can be hard on some browsers to the point where browsers will crash depending on the images being used.
4. The overall consensus based on past discussion was that people didn't want animated objects on their screens while trying to read. It could negatively impact the average user's experience.
5. It would require potentially hours of setup for a temporary feature. I don't know though. I haven't played with this from a developer's side.
6. I agree that people enjoy competition, but this seems more like a deterrent than an attraction. However, I've only ever seen this on one forum in my entire life.
7. I'm always open to considering new ideas and features, but I have to consider how it'll impact usability for everyone else and whether or not it would be worth the time due to ProBoards' incoming changes.
8. If anyone wants this added or thinks it would be fun, speak up and tell me why.
9. We have a big chunk of users who post only from their phones, and this plugin would never load for people who use Tapatalk or access the mobile version of the website. I don't know how the leader board works, but it seems that a lot of people would be stuck on zero.

I'm open if people want it, but I think I'd want the ability to turn it off so I don't crash my chromebook.
