Do other members of your family have the same issues with him?

Mine has a very explosive mood, but I think his meds affect his mood. Maybe your dad gets moody because of his meds too.

Do you or does anyone in your life have bipolar disorder? Mom and I have been thinking that dad has had it for a long time, but we can't get him to a doctor for an official diagnosis. He explodes if anyone suggests that he might need to go to the doctor. How are things going with dad?

Thanks for tagging me. I have notifications on. Things have been normal over the past week. I'm still scared that he will explode, but he hasn't.

I'm really sorry that you have to be scared of him though. You describe him like a volcano that could explode at any time.

That's exactly how we feel. And no one should live in fear of a close relative.

Maybe it'll help to know that it's not you. He's not lashing out at you. He's be yelling at whoever was there.

It does help to think that way, but I still wish he'd be rational.

I think the best thing for you to do is offer as much patience as possible. When he gets into a yelling fit, walk away. You can't force him to see a doctor.
