blackamericaweb.com/2020/02/06/malcolm-x-assassination-case-may-be-reopened-due-to-netflix-doc/#autoplayJohnson, who became Khalil Islam, died in 2009. Butler, now known as Muhammad Abdul Aziz, 81, was released on parole in 1985 and wants to clear his name. He is working with the Innocence Project and hoping that the Manhattan district attorney’s office will reopen the case. The New York Times reports that one of the prosecutors, Peter Casolaro; who is reviewing the case, was instrumental in overturning the convictions of the Central Park Five. The men believed by many to be the shooters were members of the Newark, N.J. mosque. One of them, named in Hayer/Halim’s affidavit was William Bradley, who had changed his name to Almustafa Shabazz and was openly living in Newark with his activist wife, Carolyn Kelley-Shabazz. In the documentary, former Newark mayor, Sen. Cory Booker acknowledges knowing Bradley/Shabazz but not his previous identity, according to the New York Times.

I genuinely didn't know there was so much doubt in the case.

I'm hoping they do. We have a lot better technology now and if there's any doubt at all, we need better answers.

I've also become interested in this case because of netflix. So many things seem left open and they were closed lazily back in the day. Makes you wonder how many innocent people are behind bars.

Even if reopened, we're looking at another 5-10 years of hearings. But one can only hope.
