It's my hope that she had a carefree upbringing. Kids can be cruel, unfortunately.

She is one of my favorite people in history. I was always the only black kid in class. It must have been hard.

She was so brave. It's sad that black students can still deal with this today. I hope no one gets bullied for their race.

I went to a mostly white elementary school and high school. I don't think my elementary school had any black kids to be honest. High school had a handful per grade.
