What foods do you look forward for the holidays? Are there recipes that you (or a family member) make traditionally for the holidays? Are there foods/treats that you remember from growing up that were traditionally made/served?
My grandmother used to make all kinds of yummy stuff. Divinity (would probably be too sweet for me now plus I've heard how fickle that stuff is to make and have turn out), fudge, cookies, I think she made some kind of stained glass candy or something like that. I want to talk to my aunt and see if she or another one of my aunts has my grandma's holiday recipes (whether I end up making them or not, I'd like to have the recipes)
I make different things every year usually. I do generally make cookies but they are not always the same kind. This year it was M & M cookies. I also made chex mix. Today I intend to make some Bacon Cheddar Ranch pinwheels, I also want to make some peanut butter balls. I think I'm also gonna make some chicken salad with leftover chicken I bought Summer sausage, block cheese to be cut up and have ritz and triscuits. I also have bought some spinach dip and a cheese ball and some chocolate truffles. I have one of those old fashioned tins with the little sugar topped cookies in it. The round tins I also associate with being full of buttons
I have made often those little dipped pretzels but I'm not making those this year. This year I'm also going to try my hand and this Snickerdoodle bread recipe because I know my mom loves snickerdoodles and saw the recipe floating around pinterest and wants to try it. Hoping it turns out alright. Sometimes I make the cheesy stuffed pull apart bread but I'm not doing that this year either. Got other stuff going on instead.
I am feeling a LITTLE stressed out about getting it all in order because I don't wanna have to be cooking up stuff for holidays I just wanna be able to kind of graze and mostly enjoy visiting.
How about you?
