I'm not such an avid horror movie fan as I once was and I also have 2 little kiddos now...that being said, I still love the original Halloween movie (Though I enjoyed what I've seen of the Rob Zombie remakes too, they don't give me that nostalgic feeling the original does)
I grew up watching The Great Pumpkin every year with my dad. I finally broke down and got the dvd this year (my oldest kiddo is about 4.5) and have enjoyed watching that this year.
My partner and I love The Craft and actually watch it fairly frequently anyway but it's always great at Halloween.
I'm hoping to get a chance to pop in The Candyman. I loved that one as far as scary movies go.
I don't like Scary movies that are just basically nothing but nudity and gore. I like ones that actually have a plot and more spook you out when you think about it rather than just grossing you out and freaking you out with loud startle moments and lots of blood.
Mothman prophecies is actually one of my favorites as far as movies that really make me feel freaked out/spooked. I also like the show American Horror Story. Although, I loved the first season and Hotel the best.
I don't have it or I would be watching Beetlejuice that is a good one. Nightmare before Christmas I oughta pop in. Others I don't have but like include Hocus Pocus, Casper, Addams Family (I'm not sure how I feel about that new remake that just dropped/is dropping I have mixed thoughts on that). I love the original Stephen King It and The Shining. I liked the remake they did of the Shining with that dude that was in Wings. I have not seen the remake of IT. I have mixed feelings about that existing. I have heard it was not so fantastic. But I should probably reserve judgement until/unless I see it myself. I used to be super into the Freddy Krueger movies, but I have a hard time getting through them these days. Seems as I've gotten older my tolerance for the scay/gory stuff has drastically reduced for some reason.
I could go on and on about scary shows and movies but what do you guys have to say about this topic?
