Do forum directories exist? How does it work on here? Is much advertising done anymore? This place gets 200+ unique guests a day and then 80+ member visits a day.

Proboards does have a free directory. Christina is active on Proboards Support.
I think a lot of people click on her link in her siggy on there. The spamming approach never works.

Do you guys remember 15 years ago when forums had "join for join" concepts? I wasn't a member here then, but I remember that being popular. Both sites would end up with a ton of inactive members.

December 2003. I lost access to my original account during the upgrade to v5. But I made another.

Depends on the search, but I do find this forum in Google and the Tapatalk directory. No one pays for advertising here.

There are a few on Tapatalk. What's interesting is I always see Ryanizme's forum.

There is some occasional promotion on Support. Otherwise, no. People just flock here because we've been linked in so many places.

Protip, join for joins = bad idea. Having an advertising section on a forum = bad idea. I'm glad this place does neiter.

Right. Plus, I don't get what spammers think. Sure, let's post my link on an active site and maybe I'll attract their members on my dead site.

I know it takes a lot of time and effort to build a forum. I wish all the forum owners luck too. But certain tactics don't work. I'm willing to give advice if the members with their own sites need help.

Christina is really lax with her rules too. Some forums don't even allow links in signatures. She lets people post them everywhere.
