When a forum starts, there's always the question of, "how do I get interesting content on here?" And it's true. I see people making forums and then deleting them because there's no content. I wonder how some forums keep the good content and others don't.

If you mean forums specifically, all you need is a handful of people with interest. It's not up to one person to think up interesting topics. Then with a handful of people replying to everyone else's topics, you get activity and a forum grows.

That's true. I want to point out that I appreciate when forums DON'T focus on forum games. Sure they can be fun to play to pass time, but they should never make up the entire site. Ya know?

I agree. Did you know that shop money is NOT earned in the game section on here? I think the original decision was to keep away spam and to keep people making legit content.

That's pretty smart. If people want to earn forum money, they have to post real topics. I guess incentives help, even when they aren't in the forum of real money.

At this point, I think this forum is a well-oiled machine. People make it part of their day. They log in, they chat, they write about their life, and it cocntinues to grow and have new conversations every day. I don't think any advertising goes in at all.

Christina does volunteer on Proboards Support. And her link is in her signature. What's good about that is people will click because they were happy she helped them, not because they saw an advertisement. A lot of people came here from Proboards Support.

I think a lot of people joined from PB Support because Christina is always volunteering her time and helping people.

With a forum, it's more on the members. With a blog, it's generally all on the original writer.

I think it depends on the website and the type of content you are expected to deliver. With a forum, it's a cumulative effort.

Forums definitely aren't formed overnight. If you're just a random Joe, you normally have all your friends register to help with the initial activity and then allow the forum to grow as people invite people, and those people invite more people.
