I get confused when I can't get any followers and then some people have 10 million. I get confused when Christina's tortoise has over 2,000 followers from a ton of other tortoises lol. It's like I don't know how to target an audience.

Pet profiles are popular because everyone loves cute animals. And if you said every other tortoise follows her tortoise, it seems like Christina just found a following of reptile lovers.

Unless you're a celebrity, these things grow over time, kind of like this forum. Almost zero marketing goes into this forum anymore. It just grows on its own like a machine.

I just "like" a lot of photos and end up acquiring a lot of followers. Then I follow back everyone with cool pictures.

I don't try to market or worry about numbers. I follow who I like and I get equal follows back.

Yes, Owen currently has 2,782 followers, most of which are tortoises, or other reptiles.

I use Instagram and Facebook as “private” ways to keep in touch with friends and family remotely/passively. My profiles are private and I don’t like accepting friends requests from acquaintances. My rule is if I wouldn’t talk to you in person, why would I have you as an online friend? (Think~ Co worker from another department that’s never said a word to me, or even one who says hi frequently, but that’s the extent of the interaction). Don’t need that “friend.”
So I have very few followers (under 70 I believe) and no care to raise that number.
I do, however, follow a ton more people. Probably a little over 300. I follow a lot of homesteaders and mommy bloggers.
The posts I enjoy the most are from my best friend(whose currently building a house and likes to craft,) her mother(witty person who likes to craft,) and any of my friends who have young babies. Babies are awesome. Not a huge fan of the “models,” fashion, pop culture, memes(sometimes funny but not really my thing,) etc.

If you like cute pets, it's win. I actually got locked out on Friday. I might have to start over if I can't confirm my identity. I like your rules.
