It seems reasonable to do the intonation for occasional expressions but not as standard all the time. I imagine I do it when I'm sleepy but I haven't ever really thought about it

Vocal fry takes on a different meaning depending on context. That's probably why you guys are getting confused when you google it.

I've done the "funny voice" on purpose like when you vibrate your vocal cords. I don't know if this happens in conversation.
