I've been lazy about the gym all month and my reasoning is pretty rude. In Jan, the gyms are always packed with everyone who made a resolution. They depress me because I can never do my usual routine with them all over the machines. So I end up spending a month not exercising until they give up and stop coming. It happens every year and it is also sad because they do always give up in a month. So I guess my point is, I shouldn't give up and neither should you.

I hear you. I get discouraged with all the new people and not being able to do my workout.

I know it's so rude, but most do give up by mid Feb and then you can work out normally again.

Change up your routine a bit. Try some new machines for a few weeks. No harm.

Yeah. I've had to do different things the last few weeks because my gym has been packed too. It's been tapering off slowly.

Mine was a MADHOUSE the first week in January. Half the newcomers left already though.

I know you don't actually want them to give up their goals or anything, but I can see how it would be frustrating if you couldn't do your usualy workout. Just try something new for a few weeks.

Why is it American custom to only work out on resolutios? That's a funny question, but you prove a point. We're overweight and lazy by nature. We're not as fit as other countries. People just often wait for a new year or the 1st of the month rather than starting a goal at any time.

But is there a reason why that happens?

It's not really a rule or a law lol. It's not been a longtime custom to make New Year's resolutions. So people sit and wait. They eat like crap all year and think they can restart a diet on Jan 1st and make up for the previous 11 months.

So you are implying people give up being healthy in a month too?

Honestly year. Gyms are PACKED for all of January and then everyone is gone. Also, diets in general don't work. People don't know how to make permanent lifestyle changes.

I wonder why that is the case. Maybe it is your health care system.

Don't let the crowd stop you. Just wait your turn. People do move.
