I mean I know it's been cheaper for me overall, but I'm getting old and I feel like I'm gonna need a lot more medical care. I think about this constantly. I avoid the doctor now because of the costs and I an so stressed that eventually I won't be able to take care of myself. i don't know how to cope with this. Feel free to vent or share ideas for coping.

Not much better when you're old like me. In a few years I'll get Medicare, but that will only cover 80%. Right now, I'm in your boat.

IF it helps at all, there's no debtors' prison. So even if you get a $100,000 medical bill, you can settle with the hospital for $10 per week. They can't take what you don't have.

I was once told by a doctor that all hospitals just want to settle. A lot of the time if you offer to pay up front and in full, they'll offer you 60%-90% off... especially on blood work. Blood work can start in the thousands and if you ask for aa discount, you can pay $100.

Yeah I know about the up front payment discounts. I've saved a ton that way and I bet they're glad they don't have to go after an insurance company for money. In tht sense, out of pocket payers make their life easier.

They also can't charge you what they charge an ins company.
Ins companies are stupid and often pay out 10x more than
something actually cost. They can't legally charge an
individual like that.

I feel it, but they can't harass you if you pay even a dollar a week so, I just hope I never end up in thee hospital.

I dont have insurance. I have had three heart attacks, 4 stents, 2 hospital stays numerous heart tests and right now I have a hospital bill for over half a million bucks. I have no clue how I will get it paid off unless I win the lottery. I try to not stress over it because it was stress that gave me the heart attacks in the first place.
