Don't want to go to Mexico. Need to plan a value oriented 5 or 6 day getaway someplace Need it to be stress free chillout time Ideally there would be a nice resort. Prefer if there could be good indigenous cuisine available rather than just white ppl food. Any recommendations?

I would probably do Dominican. A friend went there and stayed at a very nice resort.

Grand Cayman
-Super easy direct flights -It's a British territory, so not being a third-world country there aren't a sh*t load of people trying to sell you sh*t and scam you everywhere you go -Beautiful beaches -Laid back
-Cuisine not terribly exciting.

if you book anything in mexico/caribean that is all-inclusive the food will be terrible.
every breakfast bar and lunch spot will gross and you'll struggle to find something that tastes good. forget about room service unless you're requesting beers. there will be a half-dozen dinner restaurants that, for some reason, you'll be forced to get a reservation for, even though they're always half-empty. of those six, one will be decent, four will be ok, and the other one will take 30 minutes to get your drink order.

I've been down to the DR and Mexico a handful of times, and it's always laid back and relaxing, but dont expect great food.

Check out United's vacation packages. I got all-inclusive for 2 people, 4 nights including flight $3k.

Beliza is my recommendation though based on your first post. Atlanta -> Belize City. Take a puddle jumper down to placencia and live on the beach for 5 days. It's ****ing heaven there. 1/3 barrel rum, best beer in central America, safe [if that's an issue for family], and ****ing fryjacks.

Look into Excellence Playa Mujeres. It's a little north of Cancun so you lose all the partiers. And they treat you like royalty.

Belize is also surprisingly cultural too. Officially English-speaking but everyone speaks Spanish too. Caribbean blacks, indigenous Mayan, Mennonites, Taiwanese. Kinda surreal but it's a great place [outside of Belize City]
