Super nerd alert. I collect Magic cards as well as play the game.
I started playing when I was a kid, but when my friends stopped playing I did too. Picked it up again about 3 years ago and now I have a pretty extensive collection

I feel out of the loop. I thought the game came out within the past 5 years.

^That's why I play online. The computer remembers the rules.

Yeah, the game is really old! I think it came out in 1992.
I've never tried online, but I played their Duels of the Planeswalkers games when I was first starting again. It's good for understanding the rules, but yeah, definitely a complex game.

Do you ever play in person? If you look online, a lot of times local comic stores and nerdy stores will have mini tournaments so you can play with other people who also collect magic cards. My husband is his only friend that really likes collecting and playing heroclix right now and he goes to the local tournaments for that.
They're not huge or anything. They're actually pretty small. And the ones here aren't that expensive. It only costs him five dollars most weeks to play in any local tournament. It's because they want you to return each week and buy more collectibles from them.
You can win rare cards or collectibles or whatever sometimes by playing the local tournaments if you win.

I mostly just play casual now
