Someone I know seems to "collect
games. He's definitely a gamer. He plays a lot, but he buys a lot more than he can ever play. Years worth. Is this bad?

Because games are expensive and he's not rich.
He always wants to have the newest tech and the newest stuff at any cost.

NO, his SO isn't a gamer. I guess some gaming networking friends are. But not really anyone in erperson.

Money really is a touchy subject. I wouldn't tell him how to manage his money or his game collection. Maybe keep asking about ones he hasn't played until he realizes he has too many in his queue and stops getting more.

Nerdy men like to collect things. I've dated more than one of them and it's just this way. My brother is also a nerdy male. If they aren't collecting video games, it's something else like comic books or figurines (my husband likes figurines a lot and my brother collects green lantern stuff). It's fine as long as they can pay all their bills in my opinion and don't use grocery money or something to buy games.
