At the South Pole, the highest temperature ever recorded was −12.3 °C (9.9 °F) on 25 December 2011. Along the Antarctic Peninsula, temperatures as high as 15 °C (59 °F) have been recorded, [clarification needed] though the summer temperature is below 0 °C (32 °F) most of the time.
