I see my dad at least once a week, when I lived 400miles away I'd give him a call at least once a week

Stopped talking in 1998. He didn't offer me anything as a person but as I age, it feels sh*ttier than it did ten or so years ago about him not being in my life. Part of me wants a relationship with him even though I rationally know he offers me nothing as a person.
I always felt sheepish about it because I never told him why I stopped talking to him. I just moved, never forwarded my number, and we never talked again.

When I was younger almost never. He was busy doing his own thing. My parents were divorced, so you know. Maybe once a week for a few hours if that.
When I moved to PA and he moved 3 hours from my home town I never saw him. He actually missed my flight to say goodbye before I left.
My dad's actually been living with us since August now. Had a bad breakup and I told him to gtfo and come home. Other than the having slightly less privacy thing, it's pretty cool to have him around. Get to have a beer with my dad every night, have dinner together, etc. Since he moved in he's changed out all of our doors, helped put up siding, put tile in the kitchen, build me a coffee table, etc. He also makes renaissance clothing, so he's made me some skirts and altered some stuff that didn't fit right. He's handy and it's cool to get to spend time with him.
