Where are you guys seeing that donations need to be a minimum amount? I deducted $30 to a charity this year and it reduced my taxable income.
TL;DR - As long as you can prove you donated money, and you are itemizing your taxes, your charitable donations reduce your taxable income

The standard deduction is like 10,500 or so. Your itemized ones need to go over that, or there's no point in itemizing.
