Was it ever discussed why women supposedly earn less even for the same jobs?

I think it has to do with stereotypes regarding power
And also because in old times, women didn't work period.

^You know what's interesting, my grandma never even finished high school. Her husband supported her their whole lives.
Whereas now, that would be dumb. I finished school and I work.

Do you guys know the salaries of everyone in your offices though?
This is why women get paid less and sometimes promoted less. I guess I am unlucky and have had to be around a lot of sexist people in my life, so I've heard all their sexist reasons for doing things.
1. We take time off to give birth to babies with maternity leave, so we deserve less pay because we cause the company money. It doesn't matter if you are a woman who never wants to have kids or already had all their kids and are going through menopause. 2. Women care so much about their kids they believe that women will compromise their job and choose their kids first when they have to choose between the two and that men never will. So they believe that women destroy productivity and rob the company by not working as hard as the men. The way to balance it out is to cut their pay.
---
And for the EXTREMELY sexist (most don't say this)....
3. Women are so emotional and cause so much drama in the workplace that they don't deserve to get as many promotions and raises because they are just making everything harder for everyone.
---
I'm not saying every workplace is like this though or all people are this sexist. It's more republicans and Christians than anyone else. (Sorry to any republicans and christians. They aren't all this way, but I've met a lot that are.)

I guess I'm either unaware of it or haven't seen it happen to the women I work with - if it happens.

I think both women and men should be allowed to negotiate whatever compensation arrangement they want to as employers or as employees.
