I find that text, other than short, simple texts are not very effective between myself and the S/O. IMO increased communication is a good thing, so i'd prefer to communicate moreso through texts in the future on top of everything else.
Hows bout you?

Whenever I'm with someone I text them a lot. It's my preferred method. I don't feel comfortable usually being on the phone talking. Too many awkward silences

I hate small talk, could never do it. Though I do use Kik messenger a lot and or skype. Both are free, so why not?

Kik is awesome! It's almost the same as texting, though with internet.

^ It's not bad. I prefer to just text, seems easier. Although, if I didn't have unlimited texting, this would be gold.

Would be even more awesome to have free global texting!

We use google hangouts - so basically texting but with no SMS fees and the added superiority of persistence/access across all devices (and embedded into gmail).
I have the chrome extension installed at work so I can type quickly and not have to fumble with the phone keyboard.

My husband and I text. I make sure that I never text him anything confrontational. I feel that all arguments should happen in person because texts can be read with the wrong tone of voice and stuff and easily make everything escalate.
But we communicate just fine. Mostly important stuff though. Like big things that happen through out the day and little errands we need the other person to do and just checking in on each other.

We only really text to communicate about groceries or to say hi when on break from jobs.
