"Sex Education" lecture, was that your first intro to the opposite sex?
Believe it first occured in 6th grade for me. Had a gf in 5th going into 6th grade, so that's basically when I first started becoming interested in girls. Before that they had coodies.

I had a girlfriend in 4th grade. I remember I bought her the platypus beanie baby for her birthday. Well, I picked it out anyway... It did not last long. She is a lesbian now. Hm...
Sex talk came in 6th grade. We all giggled when it showed the penis going from flaccid to erect. I'd probably still giggle if I watched that video with my friends now.

The only things we saw with the ladies were about periods and voice changing.

My mom's entire career is in women's health, and she wasn't shy about educating me... I mean, I pretty much knew more than they ever taught in sex ed by being told at home. And I'm grateful for that; sex ed didn't really cover that much at the schools I went to.
They didn't really even touch the subject until high school.

My mom told me the birds and bee's when I was six or seven. Got the school talk when I was in grade 4? I don't remember that day oddly enough. I've always liked boys, though when it comes to dating I rather not be touched, unless it's my idea.

Once we started having joint health classes, things got weird. Everyone suddenly developed crushes.

Fun tidbit: I'm glad I'm not in school anymore because my mom actually started teaching sex ed.

I first became interested in guys in the 5th grade and by sixth grade knew what sex was. Not because someone told me, but because my Mom let me watch R-rated movies when I was a little kid. I remember watch Ace Venture Pet Detective and how they got naked on the bed and the bed was shaking and all the pets were bouncing their heads. I had no idea when I first saw that what they were doing. But then I watched the Long Kiss Goodnight (it was my FAVORITE movie growing up) and in the beginning that guy says to the main character, asking about her and her fiance,"Are you two, you know?" And put his finger into his clenched hand repeatedly imitating what sex looks like. And one day, I just went,"What looks like that motion and you have to do it naked with the opposite gender and it makes the bed shake." And then suddenly, I went,"OMG! Either that's sex or I'm a disgusting person." So I went up to my Mom and said, humiliated,"Mom. What is sex? I need to know RIGHT NOW." So she bought me this book: www.amazon.com/Its-Perfectly-Normal-Changing-Growing/dp/0763668729/And everyone keeps freaking out online about that book and saying it's the worst thing ever because it teaches abortion and has naked pictures and talks about masturbation. No, no, no, no, no. My public school sex ed class taught me nothing. That book taught me EVERYTHING because it had EVERYTHING in pretty, little kid comic book form. And it makes you feel good about yourself. Like, they keep complaining because it has a two page spread with naked people's bodies on it and it says that you are pretty no matter how you look. I was going through puberty and I felt terrible about my body, but then I saw that and said,"Maybe I'm not so bad." I still know MORE than everyone else I know about how periods work and what the different parts that make up our private parts are because that book taught me it all in a way that was entertaining. I'm definitely going to give my kids that book to read when they need "the talk."

Sex ed was taught in High School for me. I really had no interest in men until late High School, beyond thinking a guy was "cute." I didn't start having sex until 11th grade- which at the time I was sixteen. In middle school I didn't really think anything of the opposite sex. I had one female friend and two male friends and everyone always thought we were two couples- but we weren't. We were all just friends.

I wonder if anyone waits until marriage anymore. I don't see how it makes any sense...considering knowledge of sexual compatibility is pretty significant in most relationships. Though I imagine anyone that could abstain like that doesn't find sex all that important in general or doesn't have a very high sex drive.
