Bear Grylls is certainly a hero. 'Nuff Said. When you're Bear Grylls every adventure is a countdown to drinking your own piss. (Or wearing piss covered clothing... anything to do with piss, really.)

You forget the countdown to eating strange stuff that he doesn't even like. He has a very strong mentality. He doesn't think, he just does, and even if he hates a certain food he will still eat it. It's all just protein to him. This is why he's a true superhero.

There is always a film and emergency crew with him and if he was going die I'm sure he would eat some of their food, but he is always looking for ways to avoid that and is good enough at survival that he doesn't have to rely on them, even if he is miserable.

Isn't it really just a camera man? Man vs. Wild only seemed to have one cameraman follow him around who does what he does. It was kind of cool whenever they show the cameraman's participation. Like when Bear crossed that log over that stream of water, he turned to the camera and told him that he needs to get him over next. Does the cameraman really have food on him? I've wondered about that, but sucks that they have to carry a boomstick around with them.

Yeah, I like that they don't try to hide the fact that there is a crew, in that sometimes he allows himself to be assisted. Yep, they carry food for themselves and there are emergency rations in case Bear really can't find anything to eat. I think I recall an episode where he flat out cannot find a thing to eat and he informs the audience that he is jealous of the crew's dinner.
