Im looking into buying a pickup and am thinking of just going for a powerstroke F250 as it seems I could get into one for the same price as a decent smaller truck and gas mileage would be about the same. Plus I only live ~10 miles from work and it would be nice to be able to haul big sh*t.
I'm thinking a 2005+ would be the way to go, i understand they got coil springs in '05, improving the ride and turning radius.
Would buying anything but a bone stock truck be a bad idea? Are there known issues that come up on these 6.0 powerstrokes?
Should I just spend the same amount of money (~$13k) on a Cummins?

Are you really going to be hauling sh*t? If not get a Tacoma.

6.0 powerstrokes have alot of issues. They can be resolved with some upgrades. Would stick with a 7.3 powerstroke or a cummins

Do N0T buy a 6.0. You'll lose your ass on it.

Repairs like whoa.. unless you have the ability to put about 2500 into it to make it more reliable..
While some are great, unless you know it was taken care of.. I wouldn't bother.
Be better off with a Cummins honestly.

Stay away from a 6.0. I know they're tempting and cheap, but for good reason.

I've never had good luck with Fords... and I've got several friends/family that have had similar experiences. I just avoid them completely. I had a few bad experiences with GM products too. Basically the only auto companies I trust these days are Toyota (trucks) and Honda (cars).
I love my Tacoma a little too much to be normal, but if you need more power than a V6 then you could step up to the Tundra. I had a co-worker who had a V8 Tundra for ~3 years with no issues.
But, since you're talking about spending extra money to get up to $13k you may not be able to afford a Toyota : / They're proud of them and they don't depreciate very quickly... I looked for over 9 months before I finally found one that had what I wanted and was in the price range I could afford (barely). But, I saved the cash for 6 years to be able to buy it.
 If it works then it works.
