How do you cope with the death of a pet?

The same way as with people. I mourn a bit, but then realize they are in a better place and move on.

I've lost...seven pets ranging from birds to dogs and even a sheep. Each one is different in mourning I guess. Every goodbye is always sad.

Never blame yourself if you have to put them down. Don't hold back words and tears. Listen to your body. Do what it wants. Treat yourself.

Yes and it's hard, but if you took care of them, they will always love you.

Yes. I mourned like I did for any person that died. Time is really all that healed it.

IMO losing a pet is harder than losing a person in your life. Animals don't suck.

Losing pets hurts me more than people too.

Sorry to all of you who had to go through this pain. I'm scared to have another pet because of this.
