How does your state handle wild or neglected animals? Here if I report something, they come out to me right away like 911.
My friend in TN just told me that that doesnt exist there. Her state expects her to take care of the animal and then bring it to them.

your friend is pretty much right. we do have animal control, but, it's one guy for the county, and he isn't around much. in the city though, it's different. in nashville, for instance, animal control just busted a fairly large dog fighting ring. there's a story at least once a week where animal control has taken animals from places where they were neglected or abused.

In large cities they come to you. When you live in farmy areas, you do as your friend said.

How can they make it the finder's responsibility? What about the person who abandoned the animal?

We have animal control in our county. We call and make a complaint if there are issues and they come out with their van and tazer.

They would come out to us here and pick up the animal.

How can they make it the finder's responsibility? What about the person who abandoned the animal? Seems to be the general rule down south.

We have animal control, but they take days to respond. So we've had horrible situations where there were raccoons in our house and we had to stay in a hotel room for a few days or couldn't leave our house because there was a wild animal standing guard out there not letting us leave.

That's horrible. They should come right away.
