I really enjoy how you find what is just, valuable, and meaningful in everything you are passionate about. Thank you so much for such a favorable statement. I have not always been so passionate, but in the process of seeking to prove to a passionate friend that his fears for America were unjustified and overblown, my eyes were opened to the level of deceit that actually exists in society today when I found that much of what he said turned out to be legitimate or at least worthy of being scrutinized. Not long after that I lurked for awhile, for months, on the now defunct Verizon Community and watched as Liberals/Progressives et al would continually shout down anyone who presented an opposing opinion or fact. Instead of addressing the facts, they attacked individuals en masse like cultish zealots. I originally thought they knew what they were talking about and that the target of their ire was indeed out of touch with reality. After all, the Liberals were more in-line with what I was seeing in the media. If one did a Google search there would be literally hundreds of opinions that agreed and supported their assertions. I started investigating the claims and counter claims by researching primary sources and discovered that the opposite was actually true. Unfortunately, it was more often the case that the truth was introduced by the lone voices that once discovered would be berated until they were silenced and would eventually leave. I did not recognize the motivation, but I knew that this was clearly evil and wrong. I decided to enter the fray over seven years ago as True Patriot using the avatar that I have today knowing that I would be attacked ruthlessly for exposing the lies, deceptions and manipulations that I knew existed. I made it a point to try to make sure that everything I said was true. Although I am guilty of sarcasm and parody, I've never lied in a post and I try to admit to errors before they are discovered. My goal was to take the arrows and speak to the reader as much as the opposition in an attempt to get more reasonable and informed people to participate. I can deal with different opinions but I have a real issue with purposeful deception, threats and hypocrisy. This does not mean that I have the support of people who agree with me. I've held them to account as well. They do not agree with my tenacious nature and feel I should not retaliate in-kind like I do. I think that is fine for them but I have seen how those who are passive are too often marginalized and ineffectual. I do not denounce others without cause and have willingly apologized when that is the impression that is made, but I have no issue giving back what is given. I've been called everything from 'ultra-right wing nut job' to a 'fanatic left winger' to include racist, bigot, Nazi etc. etc. I'm constantly dealing with attempts to impugn my character with false assertions. All for supporting the constitutional form of governance established by America's founders, facts and human decency. Although it appears that the staff here seems to be weighted in favor of those who oppose me, I have been very pleased to see that there are a large number of members here who are informed and reasonable in their positions and that the level of discourse here is for the most part quite civil yet not overly passive. Members feel comfortable in stating their opinions freely. That is a really good thing both for this forum and society in general. Thank you for the opportunity to express my positions.

Including today, you have 5 days left of your reign. Have you learned anything these past 3 weeks that you'd like to pass on to us?

Including today, you have 5 days left of your reign. Have you learned anything these past 3 weeks that you'd like to pass on to us? From this thread? Was I suppose to learn something from this thread? I suppose I learned that there are people who I did not know who support my positions or more accurately my being a member of this forum. Although, I already realize that I have closet supporters from the private messages I receive from people who do not want to be associated with me in the threads for fear of being made targets but who still say they appreciate my views even if they wish I would be less confrontational. Might be fun to know who the hit & run guy was. I have a few guesses. I was quite surprised to learn that I was even nominated for MOTM. I was looking forward to more questions about my positions and philosophy but as Shadow noted, I tend to make long posts about those things that I feel passionate about and I'm guessing there was a tendency to avoid that. I was in Japan the entire time and working on upgrading our forum, just returned to Boston yesterday, so I was a bit distracted anyway. I'm guessing this does not answer the question to your satisfaction but it's as genuine an answer I can give with my head spinning from 13 hour jet lag. I very much appreciate the opportunity to give a little insight into who I am as a person.

^You did mention not wanting to share too much detail about your personal life, so I think people starting asking you different types of questions.

Well why type of philosophy would you like to be asked about?
You could tell us your views on what happens after life.

^You did mention not wanting to share too much detail about your personal life, so I think people starting asking you different types of questions. I am able to discuss my opinions without disclosing details about my personal life. In this thread I discussed my father and I discussed my views on evolution. I have no issue with the questions asked and as I said I am thankful for the opportunity, but there is no secret about what I am passionate about. I'm not a game player and don't often engage in idle discussions. It's just not my thing. The one question I didn't answer that I would have was the one about my history with Shadow. I drafted a response but decided it would only fuel Shadow's attempt to derail the thread. If anyone is interested in my side I can PM it to you but quite frankly it does not matter to me that much.

Well why type of philosophy would you like to be asked about? You could tell us your views on what happens after life. I suppose this is an example of a philosophical question that crosses the personal threshold. As I said in my evolution response, I prefer not to discuss my religious beliefs, but as I also did in that response I can speak to your question generally though in far less detail than my evolution response. After life, the body of the once living thing is either consumed by another living thing, decomposes into more basic compounds and elements or is preserved to some degree in some form or fashion. Anything beyond that, even if one believes nothing happens beyond that, enters into the realm of personal faith. When I said philosophy, I was referring more to political, economic and social philosophy.

Did the events of 9-11 personally affect you in any way? It effected me in that I had visited the South Tower and have vivid memories of the North Tower, more specifically the antenna that topped it and the reflection of the South Tower. I saw the second plane when it struck the tower. To witness those massive structures collapse, the antenna disappearing in the dust and realizing the human lives that were lost made me weep. I knew noone who was effected directly, but there certainly were temporary issues related to business transactions. I was also disturbed both by the overreach of the federal government, specifically marshaling citizens to essentially spy and report on fellow citizens, and the political agitators that used the attack as an opportunity to attempt to deceive the American public and advance their agenda to subvert the government in a massive way. I have a copy of the 9-11 Commission Report and since I am familiar with Logan airport and have a good idea about the hotel that the terrorist spent their last night in the event became more personal. Living in the Boston area I became far more aware of the real world political connections and influences of radical groups and the Democrat party in Massachusetts even in the wake of the attacks.

Do you support Obama's decisions in general?

Do you support Obama's decisions in general? Name a few. I disagree with all Presidents that take actions or endorse legislation that exceeds those powers granted by the Constitution or that shirk the duties of their office. I disagree with his decision to not enforce immigration laws since his presidential duties as defined by the Constitution include taking care that the laws are faithfully executed. I disagree with his decision to make public statements with regard to criminal cases that would unavoidably prejudice the jury pools. I agree with his decision to allow the military to take out Osama Bin Laden. I disagree with his not being forthcoming with regard to his birth certificate for whatever reason he did it. I disagree with his decision to bow to foreign leaders and to apologize for America's presumed arrogance. I disagree with his decision to sign an all encompassing national healthcare law that was unscrupulously maneuvered through Congress and exceeds the constitutional powers of the federal government. I disagree with his decision to end tours of the White House and his other purposeful politically motivated cuts while continuing to enjoy lavish vacations. I disagreed with many of his political appointments among them Kevin Jennings to the Department of Education, John Kerry as Secretary of State and judicial appointments. What other decisions are you referring to. He seems more like a celebrity spokesman for the executive branch than a presidential decision maker to me.

It was a very surprise to be selected as Member of the Month and, as I've said earlier, I am thankful for the opportunity to share a little bit about myself. I realize that my positions and candor are often controversial and ruffle the feathers of many. Since my time in the limelight on this forum is at its end and because I think that members new and old may refer to this thread in the future to try to get a better understanding of who I am, I thought I might make two admittedly self-serving additions to it. The first is a humble plug for The Library when it reopens. My friends and I are quite excited about the upgraded version that hopefully will be unveiled in October. It will be a terrific site for those interested in doing research or finding resources for their particular interest. We are also partnering with Horrors Online to help us with our Annual Haunted Maze for Halloween. It's a lot of fun and hope you will consider checking it out at the end of October. Secondly, I thought I would re-post an revised version of something that I posted on another forum that I think outlines where I stand politically. I am less interested in specific individuals and issues than I am in core principles, process and broader implications. I am not a partisan, though I am often accused of being one. I've been called both an Extreme Right Wing Nut Job and a Fanatic Left Winger and everything in between. Just today I was called a Fascist on a different forum. I hope the following will give some insight into where I align myself as a self described George Mason constitutionalist/ republican. For those unfamiliar with this forgotten Founding Father (probably most of the readers) HERE is a link to a biography. The following is the post I thought might provide some insight into my core priciples. How did America become so polarized?
The reason for the polarization in America and throughout the world is very obvious and clear to me.
There is no mystery to it.
The Red Team (democrats, communists, socialists, oligarchists, fascists, monarchists, autocrats, plutocrats, theocrats, etc.) believes in top-down governance. They believe that citizens, states and local communities should rely on and be accountable to a central authority, authoritarianism. A longstanding minority (elitist, aristocrats) should be installed by whatever means necessary to manage the affairs of the nation based on its own dictates and the prevailing public mores, as opposed to being restrained by any statutory compact with the people.
The Blue Team (republicans, libertarians, constitututionalists. etc.) believes in bottom-up governance. They believe that governments should be accountable to the citizen and that the powers of government should be limited to those things that the citizens have specifically delegated to it and only those things that the citizen or more localized governments cannot do on their own. A group of citizens comprised of a majority of only those immediately effected by their charge should establish a system of statutes that define the workings of the government to assure that neither a minority or the majority are oppressed by the other. Temporary citizen legislators should abide by these statutes.
The Red Team attempts to convince the uncommitted to be complacent about their own liberty and the liberties of their fellow man in order to acquire beneficial treatment from what they portray to be a benevolent government. They seek to create such laws that restrict the freedoms of others but have little or no effect on themselves. In order to do this they must use a strategy of divide and conquer, pitting one group against another, and they are willing to employ deceit to leverage the ill-informed in order to accomplish what they feel is in their own best interest.
The Blue Team attempts to convince the uncommitted that prosperity is not a zero sum game, that the reliance on government has always lead to oppression and that self determination and free markets have proven to be the greatest source of peace and prosperity in the history of mankind. That employing one's talents and working hard, as opposed to relying on charity, is a more viable path to happiness not only for themselves but for future generations.
Sadly, the Red Team's philosophy is the natural state of man where a minority is able to triumph over a majority. Where every man looks to take advantage of the other. Civilized men and women must overcome these animalistic instincts by employing their intellect to understand the lessons of history in order to devise a system of governance that seeks to remedy the prospect of a repressive society. Thus were the goals, philosophies and principles of the Age of Reason and Enlightenment that were manifested and enshrined in the United States Constitution.
True Patriot Prayer
God bless America, the strongest, prosperous and most generous country that has ever existed on the face of the Earth. Lord, please watch over the brave men and women who selflessly put themselves in harm's way to defend her everyday, both domestically and overseas. For the sake of our children, who we love dearly, future Americans and the peoples of the world, please protect this great country, the United States of America, from her own citizens, who seem to overlook how truly fortunate they really are and who unknowingly are allowing the erosion of America's very foundation, the Constitution, in the name of progress, expediency and the quest of a Utopian society; which we know cannot be designed by man alone.
Amen |

I will read your boxed and blued statements when I get to a PC. My phone can only handle so much text at a time..
But for the above:
I voted for you because I saw you around a lot in July and I wanted to learn more about you. I am glad you participated in the interview.
Good luck on your new site. We wish you success.
We're really not looking to label you anything... fat/thin/republican/sexy lol. Whatever you are, and whatever you believe is fine. I've never had a problem with you or anything you've said. So no reason to defend yourself or your beliefs.

However, if you note the unknown drive by earlier in this thread (I'm guessing not a common occurance) and my exchanges with April and ADreamIsAWish you can see that it is not always the case. Thank you for your interest in me and your best wishes for The Library. I hope you found my participation in this thread interesting enough to merit your vote. You might be interested in knowing that I quoted you awhile back for something you said during the last presidential campaign that I felt was especially insightful and true... Sukie Wu posted the following at Christina's ForumIf Obama manages to take a gold standard business resume, and convince [ A]mericans that it[']s evil incarnate, the future of the country is ******.
