Would you be comfortable sharing your sexual orientation in public, even if you were gay or bi? Do you think that it's easier for one gender to open up than another?

I think it's more accepted in society for women to be gay only because it seems to be "cool" or "hot" for women to be lesbians now.

I definitely agree with devito, there's a very apparent double standard when it comes to homosexuality.
My friend actually overhead guys talking about it on the bus and were saying things like, "I only like day marriage when it's for lesbians because two guys is disgusting, but two girls is fine... Well, so long as they're two ot girls."
Obviously those guys were kind of tools, but it proves my point.
Anyways, answering the question, I'm only willing and unashamed to share my sexuality in public because I'm heterosexual. If I were homosexual or bisexual I would be much more hesitant or lie if I was because of the negative response I would get from people.

There's a major double standard. If a female friend told me she was gay, I wouldn't care. If a male friend told me he was gay, I dont think I'd know how to hang out with him anymore. It would feel awkward - not entirely because I would be scared of him hitting on me, but it's just weird with guys.

Gays are the nicest people around. I know a few both male and female couples and they are so sweet.

Double standard for sure, and I agree that it's easier for women to come out

I would be comfortable, depending on who it is. And I think it's easier for women to come out, considering people find lesbians hot nowadays.

When I first game out, the only people who knew were my mom and a female friend. Eventually I felt like I had to be honest with everyone, and sadly, I lost many friends because of it.

whispers i'm sure your friends adore you for speaking so kindly of them, but people falling outside the heterosexuality spectrum are not inherently nicer than heterosexuals they not a different kind breed of humans they just want to put their genitals in different places that's all
and no i generally tend to avoid the subject because stereotypes piss me the **** off and it's easier not to talk about it i have a boyfriend right now but if i had a girlfriend i'd be open about it?? i just don't see the point talking about it to people who shouldn't be concerned with who i ****

Only true friends stick around. Others are only going to be around for a short time it's what I've learned over the years but good for you
