Thought we could start this thread with the question of, what gender has it worse and why? What is 'it', you say? Well, it can be anything in life from work, social norms, etc.

I would think women have it worse. Call my biased, but there seem to be a lot more pressures on a woman's appearance that follows her everywhere, work, school, etc.

I think perhaps on a day-to-day basis, men typically have a bit of an easier time going through life. However, cumulatively, there is no real better or worse; everyone has the media telling them they aren't good enough, everyone has societal pressure to conform to gender norms, everyone struggles with insecurity. They are different, but not as much as some people might think.
Physically, though, women get the short end of the stick. ****ing periods, man.

I agree that we all have pressures and that society sucks, but biologically, I think women deal with a lot more.

I have to agree that women need to deal with a lot of things.
1. Body Image 2. Period 3. Other moody women 4. 5. 6.
I could make a huge list on this but really? Heck I've always wanted to be a boy instead of a girl, cause men have it a lot easier, besides that they need to work all of the time.

Some don't. Most are stay at home moms.

Some don't. Most are stay at home moms. Stay-at-home dads exist too. Men can choose not to work, provided the income is high enough that they don't need to, just as often as women can.

i think women have it worse (so much misogyny ingrained into our culture, holy sh*t) but men struggle with the side effects of it too, for instance when they like something that is considered feminine because apparently femininity is bad?? and sure - guys may on average not be as negative towards their own looks as women tend to be but that doesn't mean negative self-image doesn't exist for them.

Women, easily. 9 months of torture. I don't think anything the male gender goes through is equivelant to that.

I think both are not harder only different. I agree. I don't think it's one-sided on this one while because a woman may have more pressures based on appearance, a man may have more pressures based on physical ability, work, and success, etc. Both sexes have different expectations (though that's not necessarily fair) but it can make life harder for both.

In America, I think that men and women both have it equally bad.
But in misogynist cultures that still exist today, I think the women have it worse.

I'm glad I'm a female. I think I have the best of both worlds. I can be soft and feminine and helpless or tough and self reliant and dress down and be excepted for who I am. If I want to I can have any occupation without much comment. There are still some inequalities like equal pay and opportunities to rise to top management in some jobs but its improving, I think.
