Why is it so expensive to adopt a dog?
My dog died a few months ago and I was just looking at the local ASPCA website and they are adopting dogs for 300 bucks and puppies for 500 bucks. For those prices why not just buy a dog from a breeder instead of getting a used one?
Why are they so outrageously overpriced? Do they not want people adopting dogs or something?

Humane society is like $90 around here. That usually comes with a voucher for immunizations if they are to young to get them.

I have no idea what it costs to adopt here, but we got our puppy for $50 from a breeder (but we had to pay for shots and all that kind if stuff).
