Someone posed a question by me today and I didn't know how to answer.
1. Did blacks only vote for Obama to elect in the first black president? 2. If they hadn't voted for Obama, would that be self-hatred?

Here in MD, some of the counties (Prince Georges) that are predominately black voted for Obama in droves. I think Pres Obama won that county at 89%...which basically means 89% of the black population in that county voted for him.
Put it like this...I have yet to meet a black person who DIDN'T vote for OBAMA.

I don't think it's racist either way. Vote for whoever you like better.

I don't think it's racist either way. Vote for whoever you like better. I think the problem is (and this goes both ways) is that you have a base of the black population who voted for Obama based on his race, ditto for a population base of white voters who voted for Romney because of his race. It'll never end, but one would hope they are voting for who they think will best lead this country in the right direction.

I think it's understandable, if not expected, that people vote for people that represent them. In part that involves color/race. However the demographics of Prince Georges, according to MD, are 63.5% Black followed by Hispanic and Whites at almost 30%.

I think people generally vote for their own race, whether it's intentional or not.

In general I think the country can be pretty racist.

I think Obama was just different in many ways. I also think people wanted to elect the first black president.

Obama being black did contribute to my reason for voting for him.

IMHO : Race doesn't count for election - only the platform, and that's how I voted.
However, I know many people that will vote upon race lines rather than party lines.... thought I suppose that's often the same thing. And so maybe I'm wrong and they voted upon party lines but the party corresponded with race. I don't know, but in the deep south I know there are still people that will vote on race alone (I know some). Racism still exists, we (I) try to pretend it doesn't but it does. You can't fix stupid....
All you can do is do your best to spread the love.
