I'm not going to be buying a deep frying kit as I already have the burner. I will just be buying a large pot. What would be the best way to lower the turkey into the oil and still be able to take it out easily?

Yes, be careful when you lower it in and make sure its placed far from anything that can catch on fire.
Will say, for the first time this year I had fried turkey (at a work function) and it was really good.
Good luck. Let us know how it turns out and how long/what temp you cook it at.

It can be really good, but really difficult. Find a recipe and follow it to the T.
