How does this board (if it does) go about recruiting active members? Is it more of word of mouth being passed from Current Members to others? Posting on PROBOARDs Support?
Just curious.
I only ask because it's an awesome forum, I like it here and want to continue to see it grow.

I think a lot of it is referral and the fact that Christina doesnt spam anywhere.
I saw it in her signature on a forum where we share a mutual interest.
I think also people end up telling their friends and it grows and becomes more personal.

I largely think it's referral too.... or just word of mouth. Once you gain respect on other sites, people are willing to check out your site.

Are you asking how I got over 13,000 posts? I was one of the first people to see this forum. So I saw it before it was even active. I think it was during when Proboards was just becoming popular. In any event, I personally became friends with a few people, then I invited a few friends I knew IRL to join.

Just was curious as to how the bulk of everyone here became members. Whether it was on another board, friends in real life, etc. Referral and word of mouth is probably the slowest, yet most proven method for actually gaining true, no kidding, active members who will stick around. I get the general feeling that everyone here "knows" everyone and that its a good environment. Spamming posts by random "newbs" for the sake of increasing board post counts is not the way to go obviously. Lots of good honest discussion. I like it.

It's not that everyone knows everyone, it's more like we've come to know each other and we've made friends or rivals lol..
I know there's a thread on Proboards Support for us, but I think it's only bumped once a month or less.

It didn't start out that way. We started getting so many "newbs" and ex bf stalkers that we had to start screening all accounts. There isnt much advertising at all that I know of. There are forum pens. If you dont have a problem giving out your address, Christina would probably mail you a few if you asked. I think it's mostly links and affiliates and stuff people click on.

Sure, Sure. I didnt mean that your all friends from the same neighborhood having grown up together and created your own little board. That would be weird anyhow.
I get what your saying.

Yeah. I kinda like that it's more personal. I've seen some forums with thousands of members and your thread will be lost within an hour.
Then I've seen other boards with 12 members and 2 year old threads are on the same page.
I like that this one is in between

Maybe yarn could post in when she's feeling well, but there's not much as far as real advertisement. There's the one thread on PBS, and then signature links on other forums.

AFAIK, the mini mods including myself dont do any advertising. It's been mostly word of mouth for a long time.
Proboards Support is the only advertising thread.

I think it's word of mouth and Google.
Google bots are crawling this place constantly.
