I live in a housing complex and the people above me had a leaking roof last week. They informed the company's maintenance staff who came down to fix it but did a sh*tty job. Yesterdat there was heavy rain and the people above me got flooded, then eventually the water seeped through their floor right on top of my xbox. I took pictures and what not. It's a pretty big company and they charge 2200 for only two rooms and a bathroom. Are they legally liable to pay for my sh*t?

Actually it is on them but most people won't hire a lawyer just for an xbox and little sh*t like that.

Ask them to replace it. See what they say.

you can ask, but that's why you should have renters insurance...it's like 12-20 a month and covers all

You could have a lawyer send a letter, but it will probably cost more than its worth.

To be honest, even if you had renters insurance, it's $10-$20/mo with a $500 deductible.
Just pretend you used your deductible and go buy new ones

20 dollars a month adds up on top of everything else. And I just didn't know about renter's insurance, I assumed the company charges so much they will fix things when they get broken. Isn't it their fault though?

The landlord failed to maintain the structural integrity of the building that was agreed upon when entering into the lease.
Ramifications for said failures should be immediate.

Check what it says in your lease about repairs.

Your lease should say who is responsible for stuff like this
