when i was training for a hike i met an old fellow named john on the trail i was hiking... we talked for a bit and went our own ways.. i hiked the same trail again some months later and was talking to a woman who turned out to be his wife, she mentioned that he was climbing mt hood that week... i asked her if she could ask john if i could tag along... i summited mt hood that week and have been hooked ever since

the numbers i have are 3.0% death rate of all climbers on manaslu over the past 50 years, wiki says there are roughly 300 summits and 50 deaths as of 2008

about a week trek in to base camp/acclimating, ~ 1 month on the mountain itself, 1 week out/extra days

If you had the finances to support it, would you try to climb Everest? if i had tons of disposable income i would consider doing the tibetan side, but i would probably rather do 100 other climbs than everest |
